Gilgamesh Shotō is an archipelago situated in the sea in the Southern region of the Mushroom Kingdom. It is the setting of the second part of Super Mario Kart 2 of the Super Mario Kodansha manga. It seems to be largely based on Koopa Beach.

The islands are under the control of the vindictive deity known as Poseidon Koopa, and he is the reason people do not sail around those lands. Thanks to a message in bottle, Princess Peach and a selected few go on a treasure hunt on Gilgamesh Shotō. By joining forces with a mermaid, the crew defeats Poseidon Koopa, awakens the protective deity of the place (a Gilgamesh-like Donkey Kong Jr.), and gets to have one of their wishes granted. The beach is full of oddly shaped sand structures, mostly resembling body parts. Under the sea, lives the mermaid tribe in the Ningyo no Kuni, but only the ally mermaid is seen living there.
