Move to Cosmic themes[edit]

Shouldn't this category match the category used for corresponding locations? Which is Category:Cosmic areas, not Category:Space areas? There was a proposal about going from "Outer Space" to "Cosmic" for locations for increased clarity and removal of corner cases, and every argument in favor of that proposal should apply here. One could argue Gravity Galaxy isn't actually in space (those people are being a little too literal regarding world maps), and therefore its renditions of "Rosalina in the Observatory", isn't a "space theme". Similarly, Superstar Road's portal based transition means an objective determination of it being in space or not is impossible, and the same would be true for the theme that plays there. Here's a new argument: "Beep Block Skyway (theme)" is currently a "space theme" despite the idea of Beep Block Skyway being a (night) sky or space course literally depending on the game's localization. (Japanese is on team "sky".) I think making an equivalent switch from "space themes" to "cosmic themes" makes sense for every reason in the linked proposal and for the additional reason of being less mutually exclusive with sky. "Of or relating to the cosmos", the definition of "cosmic" per Merriam-Webster, isn't as absolute a statement of what something is as "is in outer space", which greatly helps with the often wibbly process of categorizing elements of fiction. Was kind of sketchy about this when I saw the template, but your reasoning makes total sense. I'm for moving the category. The Dab Master 17:52, March 15, 2026 (UTC)
