Like all of 9-Volt's microgames, Ice Climber was based off the 1985 game of the same name, although it's not a carbon copy, like most of 9-Volt's microgames. In the microgame itself, the player controls [[Popo]], the boy of the two Ice Climbers. He is holding his hammer with his two hands, and can smash it down to either the left side or the right side. On both sides, either [[Topi]]s and/or [[Polar Bear]]s will come attack Popo. As the player can imagine, Popo will need to hit them with his hammer. If he hits them, they waddle off the screen. If Popo get hit, he's frozen and he's dunked to below. For the first dificulty, three slow-walking Topis will try to beat Popo. For the second dificulty, two Topis and a Polar Bear will come. Polar Bears are faster then Topis. For the third dificulty, four Polar Bears try to freeze Popo. The last one comes late though, which could catch the player off guard.

Ice Climber is one of 9-Volt's microgames in WarioWare: Twisted! Like all of 9-Volt's microgames, it is set in the NES game of the same name.

Gameplay[edit]

Popo must swing back and forth, hitting enemies with his hammer. By doing so, the player wins the game. However, if Popo gets attacked by one of the enemies, he gets frozen and falls, and the player loses.

  • Level 1: Three Topis.
  • Level 2: Two Topis and a Polar Bear.
  • Level 3: Either a Topi, a Polar Bear (another might slide in to catch the player off-guard) and two condors, or four Polar Bears. The last one arrives a bit later, which may catch the player off-guard. It may slide, too.

Occasionally, a Polar Bear is much larger than the others, usually the last one on Level 3. The Topis are seals in the Japanese version and yeti-like creatures in the Western versions, consistent with most home releases of the original game.
