*The name Dread Kong is derived from the dreadlocks he has in his hair.
*Dread Kong did not exist in the [[List of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat beta elements|beta version]] of ''Donkey Kong Jungle Beat''. It was instead an evil-looking Donkey Kong look-alike with grey fur, black eyes, and glowing red pupils.
*The game files for ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]'' reveal that Dread Kong was originally meant to be included as a trophy in the game.
