The Double Jump (also Midair Jump) is a move that appears in platforming video games. It allows for a character to jump while being in the air, which is a state that characters are usually unable to jump from. The move is used by pressing the button that causes the character to jump when they are not touching the ground. Under most circumstances, only a single Double Jump can be performed between leaving the ground and landing on the ground, but there are some exceptions to this rule.
The Double Jump (also called Continuous Jump in Super Mario 64 and Midair Jump) is a move used by every playable character in the Super Mario series since Super Mario 64 (bar Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World). The player must simply Jump twice in a row to use it (jumping three times in a row executes a Triple Jump). It goes a bit higher than a normal Jump, and can be used to reach higher ground. It is noticeably one of the few jumps the player can use while standing still. However, in the New Super Mario Bros. games, the user must be running at full speed. Diddy Kong is able to perform this jump in Donkey Kong 64.

In the Super Smash Bros. series, it can be performed by all characters. This move can be performed by pressing a jump button or tilting the Stick upward when a character is in midair, which will make the character jump again, though most of them can only do so once before landing. This move can serve many helpful purposes in a match, such as reaching high platforms and recovering from being knocked off of the stage. Some characters' midair jumps can go higher than other characters', certain characters like Ness or Mewtwo have floaty midair jumps that cause them to ascend more slowly, and certain other characters, namely Kirby, Jigglypuff, King Dedede and winged characters, can even perform multiple midair jumps without touching the ground. Certain items can change the effect of a midair jump. For example, a Bunny Hood increases the height gained from both a normal jump and a midair jump, and the Screw Attack item, when equipped, turns any character's normal and midair jumps (first midair jump only for those with more than one) into a spinning attack that deals damage to the opponent. When a character is carrying a heavy item, such as a Crate or a Barrel, or using certain weapon items, such as a Hammer, they will be unable to perform a midair jump.

In the Super Smash Bros. series, it can be performed by all characters. This move can be performed by pressing a jump button or tilting the Control Stick upward when a character is in midair, which will make the character jump again, though most of them can only do so once before landing.

In Super Mario Run, this ability is exclusive to Princess Daisy, allowing her to jump a second time while already in midair, akin to midair jumps in the Super Smash Bros. series.

In New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Toadette is able to double jump in midair while under her Peachette form.

In the Nintendo Switch version of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Funky Kong is able to perform double jumps with his surfboard.
