Chandeli-ho

A Chandeli-Ho is a Shy Guy appearing in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. After the Smithy Gang's takeover in Bowser's Keep, the Chandeli-Hos replace Kinklinks as holders of the big chandeliers in the keep.

They are seen in the battle against Boomer. After Mario defeats Boomer, Boomer cuts off his Chandeli-Ho's connection to the chandelier, and falls down with it. The Chandeli-Ho holding the chandelier with Mario and his party on it then takes them up to the highest tower of the keep to battle Exor.

Trivia

  • Chandeli-Ho's name is a portmanteau of "chandelier" and "Hei-Ho", the latter being Shy Guy's Japanese name. It also may be a portmanteau of "chandelier" and "ho", which is a word meaning "to pull".
  • Chandeli-Ho may also be a reference to the "Ho" part of the greeting Dwarves in the Final Fantasy series give, such as Lali-Ho! and Rally-Ho!
  • Hacking Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars to give Mario an intensely high speed rating of 255 in the battle with Boomer will actually allow him to attack Chandeli-Ho (who may have once been a planned enemy), who would in battle be referred to as the more Western "Hangin' Shy."
