List of Power-Ups

This article is about the power-ups found in different games. For information about the space in Mario Party 3, see Power-up Space.

Power-Ups give special abilities to the character receiving the power-up. Most of the abilities include changing the character's size and giving them the ability to fly. Below is a list of the different power-ups found in the game of their first appearance.

Super Mario Bros.

	Super Mushroom	Makes Small Mario or Small Luigi grow to their normal size, allowing them to break bricks.
	Fire Flower	Lets Mario or Luigi throw fireballs.
	Star	Makes Mario or Luigi temporarily invincible, but it only lasts a short time.

Super Mario Bros. 3

Image	Item	Effect
	Super Leaf	Gives Mario or Luigi the ability of flight and a tail attack.
	Frog Suit	Allows Mario or Luigi to swim faster in any direction, and allows them to jump higher.
	Tanooki Suit	Allows Mario or Luigi to fly, turn into an invulnerable statue for brief periods, and a tail attack.
	Hammer Suit	Allows Mario or Luigi to throw hammers, which do more damage than fire balls.
	P-Wing	Similar to the Super Leaf, but allows Mario or Luigi to fly for the entire level. Taking damage or finishing the level ends the P-Wing's effect.
	Goomba's Shoe (also known as Kuribo's Shoe)	Allows Mario or Luigi to walk on spikes and jump higher.

Super Mario Land

Image	Item	Effect
	Flower	Allows Mario to toss superballs. These bounce at 45 degree angles and can collect coins.

Super Mario World

	Cape Feather	Slows Mario or Luigi's descent from the air, can fly, damages enemies around while Spin Jumping.
	P-Balloon	Temporarily inflates Mario or Luigi, allowing him to float.

Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins

	Carrot	Slows Mario's descent from the air, can hop continuously.

Super Mario 64

Image	Item	Effect
	Wing Cap	Temporary flight.
	Vanish Cap	Temporarily allows Mario to walk through enemies and chain link fences. Intangible.
	Metal Cap	Temporary invulnerability, and ability to sink in water and barely jump higher. Has been known to be vulnerable to fall damage.

Super Mario 64 DS

Image	Item	Effect
	Power Flower	Works as a P-Balloon for Mario, Vanish Cap for Luigi, and a Metal Cap for Wario, and gives Yoshi fire-breath.

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

Image	Item	Effect
	Ice Flower	Allows Mario and Luigi to throw ice balls.
	Copy Flower	Creates clones of the Mario Bros. and baby Mario Bros.
	Mix Flower	Allows all the bros. to throw fireballs to form a giant one.

New Super Mario Bros.

Image	Item	Effect
	Blue Koopa Shell	Lets Mario or Luigi slide as a shell, or hide to become invulnerable (to certain things), and swim faster.
	Mini Mushroom	Turns Mario or Luigi into Mini Mario or Mini Luigi and makes him tiny and light to jump higher and enter seceret passages.
	Mega Mushroom	Makes Mario or Luigi temporarily gigantic, invincible and super-strong to destroy anything.

Super Paper Mario

	Speed Flower	Temporarily speeds up time; triples value of coins and points.
	Slow Flower	Temporarily slows down time; triples value of coins and points.

Super Mario Galaxy

	Bee Mushroom	Allows Mario and Luigi to fly for a short time and stick to honeycombs.
	Boo Mushroom	Allows Mario and Luigi to hover and become transparent.
	Spring Mushroom	Gives Mario and Luigi the power to jump higher.
	Red Star	Allows Mario and Luigi to fly.
	Rainbow Star	Makes Mario and Luigi temporarily invincible for a short time like a Star.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

	Propeller Mushroom	Allows Mario, Luigi or the Toads to fly through the air and drill into the ground.
	Penguin Suit	Allows Mario, Luigi or the Toads to slide on their belly, throw iceballs, and swim more freely (comparable to the Frog Suit). The character also has webbed feet so they don't slide when they're on ice.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

Image	Item	Effect
	Cloud Flower	Mario or Luigi transforms into Cloud Mario or Cloud Luigi, enabling him to create 3 cloud platforms.
	Rock Mushroom	Mario or Luigi can turn into Rock Mario or Rock Luigi, which can destroy enemies and objects when rolling.
	Dash Pepper	Yoshi turns into Dash Yoshi, temporarily causing him to dash at very high speeds.
	Blimp Fruit	Yoshi turns into Blimp Yoshi, temporarily causing him to puff up and float.
	Bulb Berry	Yoshi turns into Bulb Yoshi, temporarily allowing him to reveal and stand on platforms that otherwise would not be there.

Super Mario 3D Land

Image	Item	Effect
	Boomerang Flower	Mario or Luigi transform into Boomerang Mario or Boomerang Luigi, enabling them to throw a boomerang at enemies. The boomerang can also collect coins and activate Checkpoint Flags.
	Statue Leaf	Mario or Luigi are given the ability to float for a short time, turn into Statue Mario or Statue Luigi, and tail attack.
	Invincibility Leaf	Mario or Luigi transform into White Tanooki Mario or White Tanooki Luigi, which grant them all the powers of the Super Leaf as well as unlimited invincibility.

New Super Mario Bros. 2

Image	Item	Effect
	Gold Flower	Allows Mario to launch golden fireballs, which explode with a small blast radius and transform any enemy or block they hit into coins.

New Super Mario Bros. U

Image	Item	Effect
	Super Acorn	Turns Mario into Flying Squirrel Mario, allowing him to glide and cling to walls.
	P-Acorn	Mario is given the abillity to fly through an entire level.
