Goombos are a sub-species of the Goombas that resided in Sarasaland during the events of Super Mario Land. They were originally known as Chibibo, until the Virtual Console port of Super Mario Land provided the name "Goombo", 22 years after the original game's release.
Goombos slowly meander to the side, waiting to hit Mario. Their similar attack pattern is probably due to the fact that they are smaller cousins of the Goomba (according to an official Nintendo Power magazine[citation needed]). Once stomped or shot with a superball, they award Mario with one hundred points. After Bombshell Koopas, Goombos are the most common enemy in the game, appearing in all kingdoms except for the Easton Kingdom.
Goombos are similar in size to Micro Goombas but otherwise behave like regular Goombas.
