Upward Mobility
Template:Minigame-infobox Upward Mobility is a Free-for-All minigame in Mario Party 9. Its name derived from the term "upward mobility." This minigame is similar to Awful Tower from Mario Party 3, Leaf Leap from Mario Party 5, and What Goes Up... from Mario Party 6.
Introduction
The camera shows the goal cloud. Then, it pans down to the ground, where the captain is, and it splits into four screens.
Gameplay
The players must jump on the Jump Blocks (which use their New Super Mario Bros. Wii design) and Empty Blocks to reach the goal, a cloud with a rainbow. For most of the game, the checkered blocks appear in pairs, but toward the end, there are some that appear singularly. The player who reaches the goal first wins.
To achieve the bonus objective in Time Attack, the player must not jump on the same block twice.
In-game text
- Rules – "Use the Jump Blocks to bounce up to the goal high above the clouds!"
- Controls – "Hold the Wii Remote sideways. Press to move and to jump."
