  • Yoshi's New Island (pictured) is the only Yoshi's Island game thus far not to feature Yoshi's Island.
  • Wario Land: Shake It! was referenced on the 2009 Valentine's Day episode of Saturday Night Live in a sketch titled "Wii Guys." The sketch parodied the game's signature element of gameplay—shaking enemies and Money Bags by shaking the Wii Remote. The skit incorrectly states that the game has a 2-player mode. The parody can be viewed at NBC.com.
  • The Cling Cobra's name is derived from the animal, the "king cobra", which is a real world venomous snake.
  • In 2010, Ubisoft Paris had explored proposing a crossover between the Mario franchise and its own Rabbids franchise; however, according to an anonymous Ubisoft employee, the pitch was possibly rejected by Nintendo before it was formally shown.
