Big and small variantsEdit

Should these be treated as size variants, color variants, or both? Do they have different objects at least? --  FanOfYoshi 13:30, April 29, 2019 (EDT)

Also, are they treated as separate enemies in the Prima guide? --  FanOfYoshi 07:16, April 30, 2019 (EDT)
The large Rammerhead is "Syumock" and the small one is "Syumock4M" internally. In the Prima guide, they are treated interchangeably, despite both sizes being pictured. LinkTheLefty (talk) 22:46, June 2, 2019 (EDT)
Then, if they have separate models, should we split them? It'd be consistent with the Dragoneels. --  FanOfYoshi 02:45, June 4, 2019 (EDT)
Does it needs a proposal, or it should go ahead? --  FanOfYoshi 10:43, June 24, 2019 (EDT)
They seem more like redngreen Troopas to me, as the only model differences are the length of their clubs. I'd be fine with merging the Dragoneels. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:52, June 24, 2019 (EDT)
Except that unlike the Rammerhead, the other variant of Dragoneel is not mentioned. --  FanOfYoshi 06:41, June 25, 2019 (EDT)
What about the blue Lava Bubble? --  FanOfYoshi 04:15, June 26, 2019 (EDT)
Those seem to both be mentioned since they both have art, but in that case they are literally a texture swap to look creepier. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:13, June 26, 2019 (EDT)
Then what do we do about other sized enemies? It could potentially open up a can of worms for merging sized variants of enemies. --  FanOfYoshi 11:59, July 6, 2019 (EDT)
As I have said before, unnamed size variations in 3D games are utterly inconsequential. Programming a model to be a different size is easy. This ability was outright abused in the N64 and GCN eras. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:59, July 6, 2019 (EDT)
But then again, they are separated in the encyclopedia. --  FanOfYoshi 04:48, July 9, 2019 (EDT)
So are red and green Troopas. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:48, July 9, 2019 (EDT)
Where does the 4M part of the small one's internal name come from? Somethingone (talk) 08:01, January 19, 2022 (EST)
I'll probably dig up more, but it's probably something to do with measurements. There's files named "Trampoline4x4M", "Trampoline8x8M", "Trampoline16x16M", "BlockDisaster4x2M", "BlockRailStraight8M", "BobsledDashPanel4x4M", "ChorobonCube4M" (Fuzzy), "DisasterSpike9m". Anyhow, I don't think it's information particularly important to the wiki? (also above discussion says "programming a model to be a different scale is easy": not applicable in this case; we're dealing with two different models, though those meshes are easy edits as long as you either adjust UVs or have low detailed textures where uvs don't matter as much; programming different scales of models wouldn't even require two files)   It's me, Mario!
