Return of Donkey Kong is a canceled game announced for the Nintendo Entertainment System in the Official Nintendo Player's Guide in 1987. Not much information is known about the title. Some believe that it is a scrapped sequel to the original Donkey Kong, a precursor to the later Game Boy remake of Donkey Kong. Another possibility is that it's an earlier name for Donkey Kong Classics, a two-in-one cartridge containing Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr.. It is also possible that it was to be a Famicom Disk System remake of the original game in a similar fashion to the FDS Mario Bros. remake.
