A quake is a type of attack used in Paper Mario games. When some kind of "Quake" attack is used, it causes enemies on both the ground and the ceiling to take damage. Some enemies, such as Bristles, must be hit by a quake attack to have damage dealt to them. Other enemies, such as Clefts and Koopa Troopas, will be flipped over when hit by a quake attack, lowering their defense to 0.

Quake-Type Items

  • POW Block - When used, Mario jumps and hits the block, causing all enemies to be damaged. It is the only quake-type attack to do so. It is required to defeat the Bristles in Shhwonk Fortress.
  • Earth Quake - It is much like a POW Block, however, it does more damage but does not affect flying enemies.

Quake-Type Badges

Quake Hammer, Power Quake, and Mega Quake are all badges that cause tremors. Quake Hammer is the weakest, Power Quake is intermediate, and Mega Quake is the most powerful. In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Power Quake and Mega Quake are made redundant do to the badge stacking system, and were left out of the game.
