A Double Kick is an attack that can be done in Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2. It can be used to defeat many enemies and use certain items. To do this, Mario must run toward an enemy and spin when he gets close to the enemy. Then, near the end of his spin, Mario must perform a long jump by crouching quickly and jumping. Mario will do a long jump, but he will have a few sparkles around him, and when he is rising, he will be able to defeat most enemies that are in his way. This is not shown in the instruction booklet, but it is shown in a video in the Super Mario Galaxy 2 Official Website.

Mario must time the attack right for it to work. If he long jumps at the beginning of the spin, he will do a spin jump. If he long jumps too late, he will just do a long jump. However, if Mario can time it correctly, the double kick can be a very helpful move. Mario can use it to instantly defeat Hammer Bros., Boomerang Bros., Goombas, Piranha Plants, and all varieties of Octoombas, just to name a few. It can also break Item Crystals and activate Chance Cubes, Levers, and Gravity Arrows. However, it cannot break Crates. The Double Kick can also make speedrunning faster, as it is a way to hit enemies and move quickly at the same time.
