Coins are items that appear in Diddy Kong Racing DS, replacing bananas. They appear on various courses, merely lying around on the road. The player can drive over the coins to pick them up, increasing the amount of money the player has; this allows the player to buy a variety of different things. They are small, round, and light blue in color, and they feature the Rare logo on them.
The Rareware Coin that appeared in Donkey Kong 64 was this type of coin. It, along with the Nintendo Coin, were required to open the door to get the last key for K. Lumsy's Cage.
