Chef Shimi is a Cheep-Cheep chef who works on the Excess Express. As such, Shimi is in charge of preparing all the meals for the train’s upscale passengers. The chef’s first language is “Cheep-Cheep†so he often uses the wrong words when talking to non-Cheep-Cheeps.
During the events of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Mario assumes the role of a detective while on the train to discover who stole Chef Shimi’s pot of stew. Following a trail of the delicious stew, Mario discovers the identity of the culprit. The pot of stew was stolen by none other than Heff T., the obese Toad. Mario returns the pot and Chef Shimi rewards the “detective†with a Star Piece.
Chef Shimi's name comes from the word "shimi", which is short for "sashimi", the Japanese name for a type of raw fish.
