Wariomengyo is a Wario-faced fish that appears as the main antagonist of chapter 3 of Super Mario-kun Volume 10. He is based on the ningyo, creatures with both human and fish qualities from Japanese folklore.
Mario, Yoshi, and Bowser-Wanda meet the Wariomengyo in Pukupuku Kai, right after defeating the Chōchin Unkō. Bowser-Wanda uses magic to protect themselves under a protective dome that the Wariomengyo just lifts and tosses away. Mario then attempts to fry him with a fireball, but he just deflects it by blowing on it. To scare off the fish, Mario uses an inflatable buffed body, but Yoshi accidentally ruins the trick. The Wariomengyo punches Mario against a ? Block. Inside, Mario finds a Star that turns him into one: believing himself to be invincible, Mario goes for the kill but gets hurt himself by slamming into the fish's face. Angry and unamused, the Wariomengyo lunges at them, but he is hooked by a fisherman and pulled out of the water. The fisherman is revealed to be Luigi, who runs away frightened.
