Per a discussion I had on the Discord server (with @PaperSplash), it appears that the "Strike" name is pretty much specific to Battle League, and Super Mario Strikers instead called the sport as "fighting soccer" (ファイティングサッカー) on its Japanese website. The series otherwise describes it as a mixture/combination of soccer and martial arts, which, outside of the Japanese sites of the games, seems to be only mentioned in the company's FY2022 report; from what I've gathered so far, NoA's official documents describes the sport in Super Mario Strikers as "over-the-top, attitude-inspired soccer", and in Mario Strikers Charged as a "sensational battle-sport based on the original Nintendo GameCube™ title, Super Mario Strikers". Likewise, Strike is typically described as "soccer/football-like" on non-Japanese sites.
The question is, should the "fighting soccer" name be mentioned on this article as an "earlier incarnation" of the sport, or describe it on that game's article and make this page focus solely on Battle League? Note that I initially planned on pushing the latter change right away, but I was advised by PaperSplash to discuss about this on here first.

- Personally I would consider those names as earlier incarnations of the sport, since for all intents and purposes, it is the same sport appearing in three games of the same series. I do think including the information you brought up about it being a mix of martial arts would be interesting as well. — Lady Sophie_17
