What about Wizakoopa from Super Mario RPG?[edit]

This page completely ignores that a Red Magikoopa technicaly existed before Paper Mario 64. Wizakoopa from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is a red Magikoopa. Well, kind of...

It is a bit more complicated then that. Because Wizakoopa is a regular blue Magikoopa that turns red after he gets brainwashed by the Smithy Gang. And he even turns back to normal after his fight.

Every other Red Magikoopa mentioned on the page is just that. A Magikoopa that is red, and not generic blue brainwashed Magikoopas, well, at least it's not proven. So it does make it understandable why Wizakoopa was not part of of the Red Magikoopas page previously...

However it does feel wrong to not at the very least, mention that a Magikoopa in red did technicaly appeared in Super Mario RPG. So the question is: How do we mention him? Do we treat him like another Magikoopa and count him as the first appearance of Red Magikoopas in general? Do we mention him in the "Notes" section? What do you think? He is not the subject known as "Red Magikoopa," nor does he display the traits they are generally depicted with in later games. While I know their designs are more deviated than this one, I wouldn't consider Kammy Koopa or Kamella to be Purple Magikoopas, either. As such, probably intro or notes, but I don't want a repeat of Red Chomp where every instance of red Chain Chomps was suddenly added. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:15, May 24, 2026 (UTC)
@Doc von Schmeltwick Like you said yourself: The difference between this and Kammy + Kamella is that while yes, Kammy's and Kamella's primary colors are purple, they do still have very unique designs and are more then just "Purple Magikoopas". Brainwashed Wizakoopa is liteary just Red Magikoopa in design. As such ignoring him on this page feels wrong and is a bigger deal then the two Boss Magikoopas not being mentioned in the Purple Magikoopa page. That's why I made this discussion in the first place. To settle to what extend Wizakoopa should be mentioned on the page. Kirby the Formling (talk) 19:52, May 24, 2026 (UTC)
I would suggest you look at what Red Boo does, where all the incidentally pink Boos that are not Red BooTM just get a passing mention. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:03, May 24, 2026 (UTC)
TBH, I don't really like it. And I especialy don't like it being used on the Red Magikoopa page. The logic is very different. As there were multiple pink/red Boos in the franchise, but the page covers specifically only the Pink Boos from Mario Party. The same logic does not apply to Red Magikoopas, as this page covers every apperance of Red Magikoopas regardless of game genre. The Red Wizakoopa from Super Mario RPG is a 1 time exeption. TBH I'm considering now the "Mentioning Wizakoopa in the "Notes" section" option. Kirby the Formling (talk) 21:00, May 24, 2026 (UTC)
The logic on both is "are they intended to be "Red [entity]TM," which applies to more subjects on the wizard side than the ghost side. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:06, May 24, 2026 (UTC)
