On February 20th, I moved Mecha Maker from obstacles to bosses due to the way its page was written at the time. Four days later, on February 24th, my edit was reverted with the explanation that this wasn't a boss, which made me wonder, if it's not a boss, why does its page say otherwise? So I rewrote the page treating Mecha Maker as an obstacle instead of a boss. Now, in retrospect, what makes this subject not a boss? Starting with the obvious, this subject has its own "battle" music, as Nintendo Music clarifies, since this music is called "Mecha Maker Battle" in English and in Japanese "「VS.クッパメカメーカー」". Second, it's the last "enemy" you encounter on the airship in a room dedicated exclusively to its fight, like all the airships in previous games that have their own boss at the end. Third, you literally have to defeat Mecha Maker by pressing the button above it to make it malfunction, and although I know this fight is easy, that doesn't make it any less of a fight. Regarding this metod of defeat comes my fourth point: the button above the Mecha Makers is an analogy to how you defeat Bowser in Super Mario Bros. with the axe, or in New Super Mario Bros with the button. In fact, in his final battle, Wonder Bowser also has to be defeated with a button, so this isn't a coincidence. The last point, when you're playing the game and you reach the part where the Mecha Maker is, and its battle music starts playing and it begins to attack you, so you have to defeat it. The last thing you think about is that it's an obstacle you're facing. I don't know the reasons why Mario Portal didn't include the Mecha Makers among the enemies, but it doesn't seem like a sufficient argument when there are other sources that contradict it, and in general, it seems more like an unintentional omission than something planned.

- "Mecha Maker Battle" is a member of the "Boss Battles" playlist on Nintendo Music, which is further evidence that it is a boss. --TheCatLover738 (talk) 20:11, April 17, 2026 (UTC)
