Contradiction?[edit]

This page just contradicted itself! It first says that the enemy propel Mario upward in SML2:SGC, but then it says it doesn't! I don't own the game myself, and I don't wanna go through the whole game on an emulator, so could somebody check that and make the appropriate changes?

Yeah, that's what we don't want to happen when somebody else stumbles upon this article. Please fix it.

I think poor editing has created this. I think it meant the Goombas of Super Mario Land 2 can't do that, but Spooky Masks can. BabyLuigiFire.pngXiahou Ba(the Nasty Warrior)

Goomba?[edit]

So, that Daijiten book says this about the enemy: "動きを見ていると、どうも中身はクリボーなのでは?" Just from a machine translation, it seems to imply this thing may be a Goomba underneath the mask. Is that enough to list it as a Goomba variant? 85.243.109.179 14:23, February 14, 2021 (EST)

The question marks ought to indicate that it's inconclusive, so maybe related or comparable instead ala Ragumo? LinkTheLefty (talk) 12:36, May 14, 2021 (EDT)
The Kodansha manga suggests that the J-Sons are indeed Goombas, just wearing Jason Voorhees costumes. --Mysterii (talk) 11:43, July 30, 2021 (EDT)

No offence or anything but how exactly are they goombas? 86.167.129.233 13:36, November 21, 2025 (EST)

Beyond the fact that the Mario Character Daijiten suggests they're actually Goombas behind masks? Well, the Kodansha manga also reveals as such in Super Mario Land 2 - 6-tsu no Kinka 1, and in the actual game, Masked Ghouls are defeated in pretty much the same way as actual Goombas, and even act like them too. So they're like ghost goombas? Wearing masks? (Not the ones you think I'm talking about but still) 86.167.129.233 15:26, November 21, 2025 (EST)

The Kodansha manga showed them as regular Goombas wearing masks, before Mario and Peach killed them off; and the Character Daijiten describes that they only look like they belong to the Ghost clan, but actually can be defeated normally (the book classifies them as part of the Trudge clan instead). I think they're more comparable to Jack O'Goombas (Goombas wearing Jack O'Lantern pumpkins) rather than Goomba ghosts. ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 16:31, November 21, 2025 (EST)
