Different cups[edit]

I noticed that when a course is reused, the favored parts are sometimes different (usually when a different character is shown in the icon). How should we handle this? --DeepFriedCabbage 16:14, December 6, 2019 (EST)

Simply put, we can just split it by tour. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 16:33, December 6, 2019 (EST)
Actually, after more looking, I think it's just that a character is brought up one place when in their own cup. (Ex. if a course where Toad is normally a favored character is in the Toad Cup, Toad will be a frenzy character.) --DeepFriedCabbage 19:14, December 6, 2019 (EST)
This is how it works. For each cup, there is a driver, kart, and glider that gets a favored bonus, bumping them one tier up. This is why the favored part tiers aren't always the same as in the descriptions. In addition, the first spotlight driver, kart, and glider of the tour has a favored bonus on the second course of every cup, and the second spotlight driver, kart, and glider of the tour has a favored bonus on the third course of every cup. This spreadsheet has an unconfirmed list of them in the "Char-Kart-Glider combos Favored Bonus Cups)" sheet. --Whirlwind It's Meester Tweester! 03:48, December 14, 2019

Yeah, that's right. In the Yoshi cup (not biased), every course in that cup will bump up Yoshi one spot, with at least one track having him bumped up from second to third tier. During a tour, the first course of EVERY cup will bump up the new kart included in the $40 pack. Week 1 pipe spotlights will move up one rank in every second course of the cup, and Week 2 pipe spotlights do the same for the third course.--MKYoshi

Split up?[edit]

Well boys, we've done it, this is now the longest page on the wiki at nearly 700,000 bytes.

Would it be worth splitting this page into Nitro and Retro course pages? I know that will only mitigate the problem for so long, but at the rate this game is adding content, we'd need to break it up even further or perhaps even rethink how we're doing it to keep things tidy for an extended period of time. --Scepthan (talk) 17:09, April 30, 2021 (EDT)

Most of these bytes aren't text, they just stem from page syntax and file names. If we used a template, we'd drastically reduce the size of the page. As far as vertical scrolling go, separating new and classic course wouldn't do much, even if we put the remix courses along with the new ones. We might separate by platform, with new and remix being kept separate. But really, if the issue is just the page size in bytes, we should use a template.--Mister Wu (talk) 14:41, May 2, 2021

I know this is a bad idea, but maybe we should show each CHRACTER'S favoured and favourite courses on their page, like showing Mario's favoured and favourite courses on his character page, using the same technique as we did for karts and gliders.- BananaBarrelsUpgrade (talk) 03:18, October 2, 2021 (EDT)

We already do that in the profiles and statistics section of each character (here is an example for the case of Yoshi), the purpose of this page is different: showing for each course what are the driver, karts and gliders found in the middle and top rows in absence of cup and pack-pipe boosts, an information that is not immediately derived from the game's menu as it's too time consuming to check each driver, kart and glider.--Mister Wu (talk) 19:57, September 2, 2021 (EDT)

Oh, ok thanks!- BananaBarrelsUpgrade (talk) 03:18, October 2, 2021 (EDT)
