Verification of info[edit]

A user on Discord brought up a concern about the information in the first paragraph in the article, saying that "there is no footage of such of petey or toadsworth at all in any early footage from e3 or screenshots which makes that entire part of the article made up". Other websites either repeat our information without a source, or credits our site for the info (such as Unseen64).

Does anybody know where the info originally came from, and if not should it be removed?

Tucayo was the one that added the information, but he's no longer active. The Cutting Room Floor doesn't have anything on this.
Aside from the that, the page is too short to justify an individual article. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:11, March 8, 2021 (EST)
I pinged Tucayo about it and he claims he got the information from Unseen 64, but they linked back to us (wheter it was for the WiFi connection info or the whole page was unclear) so that didn't advance much.

The Unseen 64 page is dated June 18 2008 and the earliest Wayback Machine instance to be archived is dated July 18], with the Petey and Toadsworth claim. This page was created October 16 2009 by Tucayo but in the early days we used to put "beta" content as sections on the article, so I checked the edit history from the oldest revision throughout 2007 and 2008 to see if there was pre-existing section, or mentions of Petey and Toadsworth as the page was updated and after a comprehensive check, I found neither, even in vandal edits.

So despite what it looks like the claim originated from Unseen 64 and was replicated by us rather than the opposite. However as there is still no evidence and Unseen 64 runs on user contributions (and didn't seem to have a great deal of quality control in its early days - just look at the link I posted before) so in the absence of material, I would support deleting the page. --Glowsquid (talk) 12:42, August 23, 2021 (EDT)
