Move to "List of Assist Trophies"[edit]
When has the phrase "Assist Trophy characters" been used? I don't think it has. As the article points out, "The character or characters who appear from Assist Trophies are also called Assist Trophies." Now, aside from the DOJO quote already in the article:
- Ultimate Overview trailer says Assist Trophies. [1] (1:55)
- Smash Ultimate Tip: "If an assist trophy is emitting an aura, they can be easily KO'd! In this state, the owner of the assist trophy can also KO them."
- Smash Ultimate Blog Post: "Bomberman is a brand-new Assist Trophy, which means he's here to help you during battle." [2]
- Smash 3DS Introduction video says Assist Trophies. [3] (0:57)
- Smash 3DS tip: "Reflect a PK Beam back at a Starman to defeat it in one satisfying hit. However, this trick won't work on a Starman summoned as an Assist Trophy."
- Just, just the entire naive google search for Assist Trophies on Nintendo.com. Compare the same search for "Assist Trophy characters", which has 0 results.
Basically, you use "Assist Trophies" almost identically to the way one uses "Pokémon", and we're no Wikipedia. We would never print "List of Pokémon characters" because we're closer to the fiction than Wikipedia. And we wouldn't use "List of Pokémon creatures" either. We would say "List of Pokémon". (And we did, back in the day, but it was Pokémon.) Yes, the resulting grammar is incredibly awkward, but if we survived Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV, we can survive "the character that appears from an Assist Trophy is an Assist Trophy". This article's name should be changed to match the text, and therefore it should be "List of Assist Trophies" and not "List of Assist Trophy characters" Salmancer (talk) 20:17, November 7, 2025 (EST)
