This proposal is going to be short and precise since i am editing from my mobile and you already know how stressful and complicated it is.

Now let's begin. Purple Comet is a song originally from Super Mario Galaxy, played in levels that feature purple comets, as its name suggests. This theme song incorporates a part of Gusty Garden at the end, which leads to its merge with this page, which I find erroneous and inconsistent. Purple Comet (theme) is not entirely related to Gusty Garden, as its music serves another use and purpose; the part that incorporates Gusty Garden functions as a tribute rather than a reinterpretation of it, similar to Cloudtop Cruise (theme), which has its own page. In addition to the different established names, in recent remixes like Mario Kart World, Purple Comet, Gusty Garden, and Cloudtop Cruise are regarded as different songs, so there is no official basis for keeping them merged. Also, in other games like Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, both songs are kept separate, demonstrating that they are not the same. Just because a song is a tribute to another song does not make it a reinterpretation; it's related, but it remains a standalone theme.

Canning this proposal, as under our current music coverage policy, you could frankly just split this as-is, without a proposal. The only reason these seem to have been merged in the first place is due to a misunderstanding born from the original incarnation of this page, which mentioned the Purple Comet theme as an "arrangement" of the track, but didn't mention anything else about the track. Someone else has already made this page seemingly unaware of this proposal, over at Purple Comet (theme), so it's effectively been put into effect as-is. ~Camwoodstock ( talk ☯ contribs ) 02:16, July 2, 2025 (EDT)
