Any reason this doesn't prioritize all instances of mobile winged bananas? Seems kind of arbitrary. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:34, May 1, 2022 (EDT)

The focus of this page is on the banana-like living entity in Tropical Freeze, since that is what the game's Prima guide calls a "Flying banana". It's more of a character than an item. The page just draws similarities between this character and the DKCR banana items that happen to fly through the air, and since the latter don't currently have a page of their own, they're being described here retroactively. A somewhat similar situation is how the change in the appearance of Climbing Grass is being presented in reverse to eschew the dissonance between its Tropical Freeze name and the ivy-like appearance it has in said game. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 07:18, May 1, 2022 (EDT)
Same can be said of Super Mushroom and Fire Flower, which didn't have eyes in their debut either. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:48, May 1, 2022 (EDT)
Again, Tropical Freeze flying bananas aren't really items. You can't collect or use them, and they display some agency; they're closer to Professor Chops in that regard. DKCR flying bananas are collectable items, however. Super Mushrooms and Fire Flowers have remained consistent in status. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 14:06, May 1, 2022 (EDT)
Gonna be honest, I always thought these were the same thing but treated slightly differently between the games. Do the guides in question refer to it as a living entity? Bowser Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 14:46, May 1, 2022 (EDT)
Also, looking at noclip, it looks like the DKCR ones also have eyes. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:29, May 20, 2022 (EDT)
The Donkey Kong Country Returns Prima guide refers to them as "flying Bananas" on pages 98-99 at least (Banana being capitalized in that source), covering 5-7: Wigglevine Wonders, which was changed to "flying bananas" on pages 106-107 of the Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D Prima guide. In Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, the object seems to be called BananaWing, where it seems to not have eyes, has butterfly wings, and a BananaWingBunch version.
