On Sublayer 1609 of the [[Planet Core]], a tablet marks their resting place. However, by digging under the tablet, [[Donkey Kong]] and [[Pauline]] can find Exploritone napping with a fossil stuck to their back. Hitting them wakes them up. The cave they are found in is filled with books and crystal figurines of the various animal species found underground.

Exploritone's body is initially wide enough to accommodate the large fossil stuck to their back. They revert to a skinnier form once they are woken up, and keep it even after the fossil regenerates (albeit grayed out) upon returning to the layer.
