Beginner 3 (Mario Kart Racetrack Logic Game)

The challenge

Beginner 3 is the third beginner challenge of Mario Kart Racetrack Logic Game. The challenge asks the player who will cross the finish line.

Overview

The challenge consists of a Banana Peel in the first row and fourth column, a Green Shell in the second row and first column, an Item Box in the second row and second column, and a Dash Mushroom in the second row and third column. The challenge also features the following clues:

• Bowser and Peach are tied.
• Mario is located in the same row as Bowser.
• Yoshi is not located directly behind an item.
• Yoshi is located somewhere above the Green Shell.
• Nobody is in the same row as the Green Shell.
• Peach is located directly underneath the Item Box.
• Nobody is tied with Luigi.

Using these hints, it is known that Princess is in the third row and second column, underneath the Item Box. As it is known that Bowser is tied with Peach, he must be in the first row and second column, above the Item Box.

This leaves Mario, who is known to be in the same row as Bowser, Yoshi, who is not directly behind an item but is somewhere above the Green Shell, and Luigi, who is known to not be tied with anyone. Yoshi must be in the first row and first column, above the Green Shell, while Mario must be in the first row and third column, to the left of the Banana Peel and above the Dash Mushroom. Luigi must be in the third row and fourth column, as no-one is tied with him and no-one is located in the same row as the Green Shell.

As Luigi is in the fourth column, which is the closest column to the finish line, he will be the racer who crosses the finish line.
