The Piranha Pipes (or the Mario Buggy) is a kart from the Mario Kart series. The kart is composed of two Warp Pipes stuck together. Its name alludes to pipes being a common hiding spot for Piranha Plants.

History

Mario Kart series

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

The Piranha Pipes first appears in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! as the signature kart of Petey Piranha. It is a heavyweight kart that is unlocked by winning the Star Cup on Mirror Mode alongside the duo of Petey Piranha and King Boo. The Piranha Pipes' speed and acceleration are tied with the DK Jumbo, with the former stat also being tied with the Barrel Train and Bullet Blaster. Its weight is tied with the Koopa King and Boo Pipes, all of which are the heaviest karts in the game.

The Piranha Pipes, Boo Pipes, and Barrel Train are tied for being the least bouncy when making jumps. It is also tied with the Boo Pipes and the Wario Car for being the thinnest heavyweight kart. Lastly, although the Piranha Pipes is a heavyweight kart, it has one of the better off-road statistics in the game; its off-road speed is tied with that of the Barrel Train, and its off-road speed is the second best of all heavyweight karts, losing only to the Boo Pipes.

The Piranha Pipes kart shares the same engine sound with the Boo Pipes, Heart Coach, and Bloom Coach, and it makes the exact same horn sound as the Wiggler Wagon. Its wheels have a similar pattern to Brick Blocks.

Mario Kart Tour

The Piranha Pipes returns alongside Petey Piranha in Mario Kart Tour as part of the Piranha Plant Tour. Emblem locations have been added at the front and back of the kart, and the rear handrail has been removed. The Piranha Pipes increases the duration of Jump Boosts and the number of points earned for performing a Jump Boost.

Mario Super Sluggers

The Piranha Pipes appear in Mario Super Sluggers in the returning minigame Piranha Panic, where it features several karts ridden by Piranha Plants that the player needs to hit by throwing baseballs at them.
