First appearance Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (1992)

A Bear[1] (also parsed bear)[2] is an enemy in the Mario Zone's second stage in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. They resemble teddy bears and are found riding atop Beach Balls, which they can use to traverse spiky and dangerous floors.

Mario can jump or throw a fireball to defeat this enemy and control its ball. Mario can use the ball to safely cross spiked floors and get to previously unreachable areas.

A Bear also appears on the "Printing" screen of the Game Boy Camera.[3]
