Spooky (character)

Spoopy, the Hungry Guard Dog is a four-year old bulldog portrait ghost. It is known to bite any seemingly edible thing in sight. Like the other portrait ghosts, Spooky is released by King Boo after the capture of Boolossus.

Spoopy resides in the Boneyard in the mansion's backyard, where it rests in a doghouse. When Luigi approaches Spoopy, the dog spots him and begin to chase him around the Boneyard, attempting to bite him each time after barking. If it does, Spoopy won't let go of Luigi's rump until it is shaken off. After Spoopy barks four times, an annoyed Skeleton Ghost named Mr. Bones appears. He complains about the noise and then attacks Luigi. Capturing Mr. Bones leaves a bone in the ground. Spoopy stops chasing Luigi to lick the bone, causing it to let its guard down. In this state, Spoopy is vulnerable and can be vacuumed by the Poltergust 3000. After struggling, Spoopy is eventually captured, which causes a vortex leading to the Graveyard to appear in its doghouse.

One of the paintings in the Study is a picture of a bulldog. The picture may represent Spoopy when it was alive.
