When a character picks up a Drill Mushroom, a drill appears on top of their head; it replaces Mario and Luigi's caps, and Peach and Daisy's crowns. Their clothes become dark gray with details keeping the original character color. For instance, [[Mario]]'s shirt turns gray and his overalls red, while [[Peach]]'s dress turns dark gray with lighter diagonal stripes, while the panniers, collar and hem stay pink.
