WiiWare are downloadable games and applications for the Wii that can be found on the Wii Shop Channel. While many WiiWare channels such as the Check Mii Out Channel and the Everybody Votes Channel can be downloaded for free, WiiWare games can cost anywhere between 500 to 1500 Wii Points. The WiiWare games can only be bought on the Wii Shop Channel.

Unlike Virtual Console games, WiiWare games are original titles, and can all be played using a Wii Remote, unlike many Virtual Console games which may require a Wii Classic Controller or a GameCube Controller. Currently, two Mario games have been released.

Nintendo recently introduced WiiWare Demos, a selection of WiiWare games from the Wii Shop Channel that anyone can get for 0 Wii Points, and get a demo of the game (as the name implies).
