This is a list of beta elements in Luigi's Mansion
Luigi's Mansion (GC)

Favorite Mario character
Early Ideas
Luigi
It was stated by Hideki Konno that different designs for the mansion, including a western mansion, a japanese styled house, and a mansion looking like the final, but lacked chimneys. Konno also stated that the game originally was planned for the Nintendo 64, but was changed due to hardware limitations.
Favorite Nintendo character
Kirby
The game originally featured Stereoscopic 3D, but was canceled due to the price being more expensive than the console plus game together.
Favorite Mario Party game
Mario Party 2
The game was originally just a Tech Demo as well, but changed into a full game.
Favorite Mario Kart game
Mario Kart 8
It was said that Luigi had 24 hours to save Mario.
About Me
*I have two medals on Luigi's Mansion 2.
Cut FMVs
*I have met the real Charles Martinet at a Comic-Con.
Different Cut FMVs were left unused. These included Luigi sliding down the railing of the stairs in the Foyer, trying to escape a blue ghost, about to be crushed by the falling chandelier, and screaming. This screaming animation was used for the japanese commercial for the game, and the beginning for the E3 2001 trailer. Luigi would also be circled around by more blue ghost. 2 more blue ghost (along with a green ghost) were seen playing cards. Blue ghosts would also peek through a door, probably from the Parlor. Many Cut FMVs from the E3 2001 were unused as well, including Luigi looking at the player in the Foyer.
*The first Mario Party game I played was Mario Party 7, and my first MP minigames was Track & Yield.

**My second was Ghost in the Hall.
Playable Demo
*I own Luigi's Mansion 2, but not the first one.
A playable demo was shown with many changes to the rooms:
*My Wii U GamePad is broken. wiiu
*The Foyer was called "Entrance" (it remained that way in the Japan copies), and the door to Area 2 wasn't blocked, and it had a different texture. Toad was absent and the mirror didn't had the a tarp on it.
*The Parlor was known as the "Living Room", and the door to the Anteroom was boarded up. Different furniture was absent in the final, as the table was placed in a different location, and a extra side-chair was absent from the final. The human portraits were also Purple ghosts wearing top hats.
*The Nursery was titled "Child's Room", and Chauncey wasn't a boss. Instead, normal ghosts resided in it, and the player didn't get an area key, as the door to Area 2 wan't locked. The crib was also placed in a different location.
*The Master Bedroom was originally titled "Bedroom 1", and ghosts had to be caught before facing Lydia. There were also two beds at the front instead of one at the left.
*Many doors were boarded up, and some areas of the mansion had crates blocking paths.
*The Wardrobe Room had a green treasure chest.
*Vases were colored blue instead of red. A blue vase is still seen in Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Luigi's Mansion battle stage.
*Mr. Luggs was absent in the Dining Room, which had two ways to enter.
*Bats and Mice were colored white to resemble ghosts.
*A blocked up door from the Kitchen was absent in the final version.
*Purple Punchers resided in the Boneyard, along with the absence of the yellow sign.
*Miss Petunia was just a silhouette on the first floor Bathroom.
*Different versions of the Gallery were left.
**The first had a underground theme, was shorter, and lacked statues.
**The second was much longer. The statues were originally Unicorns.
**The third had combined features from the tow revisions, as the nicorn statues are present, and is short.

Early ghosts
*Gold Ghosts were pink, then white. It's thought the blue ghosts from Spaceworld 2000 were old Gold Ghosts.
*Purple Punchers were originally orange with big noses. An unused green ghost with a gargantuan nose was thought to be early versions of the Purple Puncher.
*Blue Twirlers were purple with a big nose.
*A ghost cut from the final was known as a "Basher". Bashers were sneak up behind Luigi. Once close enough, the ghost would appear with cartoon styled text saying "BAAAAAHH", causing Luigi to scream, and crab walk backwards while losing half his HP. These were reused for Sneakers for Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.
*A issue of Nintendo Power stated of a unused Portrait Ghost, who would reside in the Safari Room and would want to murder Luigi by cutting his head off. As Nintendo Power likes to joke around, it's unknown if this "Portrait Ghost" is real. Many fans speculated he was removed due to his dialogue and actions being too frightening.
*An unused ghost was a chef, and he would throw tomatoes. this was thought to be reused for Hiders.
*Boos had no tongue and had smaller fangs.

Early HUD
The Heart Meter was originally shown as a fraction, showing /100. If a Basher scared Luigi, it would change to /50, but rise up to /100. The Boo Meter was also shown as a full number. These were switched around. The Game Boy Color had an appearance similar to the Game Boy Color, and had a clock, indicating the amount of time for the E3 Demo. Some thought that it was a timer for the amount of time that Luigi had left.

The Game Boy Horror also had a camera, but was removed because the Nintendo GameCube couldn't handle it.

A heat meter was intended to be in the game. It ranged from 1-10, and if it reached 10, the Poltergust 3000 (known as the Poltergust 4000) would catch on fire, and Luigi would lose HP.

Other Items
*A second Game Over was planned, and was going to be used for when the timer was up. It included Luigi appearing in the dark, in front of the mansion, and shows a depressed expression on his face as lightning strikes.
*There was a different title screen, saying "Skip Intro from the Beginning".
*Luigi had a bigger head, and his hat and shirt were lighter. Luigi also held the flashlight with both hands, and doesn't shine it when entering the mansion.
*An unused Mario model was left unused, and was tall like Luigi, possibly for an unused Multi-player mode.
*Different colors of Shy Guy Ghosts and ball-shaped enemies resembling Flying Fish are also unused.
*Unused sound effects include a ghost-like female speaking, an unknown screeching, an unused version of Totaka's song, and an unused Space Room theme.
*Professor E. Gadd had extra lines before asking Luigi some decisions, saying "Heh heh heh." There were also only 2 options: Go to the Mansion, and Practice.
*A photo of Princess Daisy from Mario Tennis 64 is in the game's files, along with 3 renders of Luigi for the game's ending.
*A boss titled "Elh" is a creature with no texture.
*4 unused dialogue icons were planned for use:
**Bowser
**Green Toad (visible with AR codes)
**Gold Ghost
**Mario
