Patches

Patches is a green parrot who is owned by the pirate Captain Clump, who Patches is often seen riding the shoulders of; like Captain Clump, Patches possesses an eyepatch and a peg leg.

In The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "Pirates of Koopa / Do You Believe in Magic?", Patches remiains little more then a background character at the beggining of the episode, riding Captain Clump's shoulder for the most part.

When Blackbeard Koopa and his Koopa Pirate Pack invaded Captain Clump's ship though, Patches aided Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Toadstool and Captain Clump in fighting them off. Unfortunately, when trying to throw a Bob-omb off of Captain Clump's, the explosive detonated in his talons, knocking Patches into the crow's nest of Captain Clump's ship, knocking him unconscious.

Later, Patches was awoken by Mario, Luigi, Toad and Captain Clump who, having been tied to the mast of Captain Clump's ship by Blackbeard Koopa and the Koopa Pirate Pack, managed to squirm up the mast, hitting their heads on the crow's nest at the top. Clumsily getting up, Patches was instructed by Mario to throw a star, which had appeared floating around Patches' head, to him; doing so, Patches watched as the thrown star, revealed to be a Starman, was caught by Mario, who used the powers it endowed him with to free himself, Captain Clump, Luigi and Toad from the restraints tieing them to the mast; after he was freed, Mario defeated several nearby, voracious Trouters and jumped on to the crow's nest of the ship, along with Luigi, Toad, Captain Clump and Patches. Once on this crow's nest, Mario severed it from Captain Clump's recently sunken ship and used as a boat for him, Patches, Luigi, Toad and Captain Clump.

Much later, Patches, evidentally, didn't venture to Blackbeard Koopa's fortress on Pirate's Port to aid Mario, Luigi, Toad and Captain Clump in saving an abducted Princess Toadstool; though Patches did appear to help Mario, Luigi, Toad, Captain Clump and Toad in fighting the Koopa Pirate Pack on Blackbeard Koopa's ship. During this battle, Patches managed to successfully throw a Bob-omb that was chasing Captain Clump off Blackbeard Koopa's ship. This act caused Patches to gain an honorable salute from Captain Clump.
