Magic Growing Potion
Toad, holding a flask of Growing Potion.

Growing Potion is a red concoction that is capable of enlarging its target to numerous times its original size. Not much is revealed about Growing Potion, but it seems to serve mainly as an antidote to Shrinking Potion, and probably has similar attributes. It was assumedly created by Waldo the Wizard, who is capable of conjuring up a flask of it with little effort.

History

Growing Potion made its first and only appearance in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "Princess, I Shrunk the Mario Brothers". After Toad accidentally shrunk Mario and Luigi with Shrinking Potion, he was tied up by King Koopa, along with Princess Toadstool and Waldo. Eventually, Princess Toadstool, Toad and Waldo broke out of the chairs they were tied to, and Waldo was able to conjure up a flask of Growing Potion.

Toad then took the Growing Potion and secretly inserted it into the spray gun that King Koopa was initially using to spray pesticide at Mario and Luigi with. When King Koopa cornered Mario and Luigi in Waldo's greenhouse, he sprayed them with the Growing Potion, along with some potted Vegetables. Not only did Mario and Luigi grow back to their normal sizes, but the nearby Vegetables grew large as well. Taking advantage of the situation, Mario and Luigi used the enlarged Vegetables to scare off King Koopa and his Koopa Troopas.

Trivia

  • Although never referred to as such, Princess Peach can sometimes create a type of growing potion in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door if she fails to properly produce an invisibility potion in the X-Naut Fortress laboratory. The effect of this potion is only temporary, and serves no real purpose.
