'''Dream Race''' is the first Dream event in the [[Wii]] and [[Nintendo DS|DS]] version of ''[[Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games]]''. Like the other Dream events, it is fictional and is not in the real Olympic Games. It is not based off of any particular event, but does borrow elements from the Athletics events as well as the [[Mario Kart Series]]. In the Wii verison, Dream Race takes place on a track known as the Sandhill Track Course while the DS verison takes place at Blue Sky Highway.

There are three obstacles that slow players down on the course.
 
*S and Trap: If run into, the player slows down automatically. Wii only.
* [[Egg Pawn]]: Starting on lap three, they appear to walk around on the course. When run into, they blow up and slow the player down. Wii only.
* Hurdle: Works as the Hurdles do in Field events.
