- Wario Land: Shake It! was referenced on the 2009 Valentine's Day episode of Saturday Night Live in a sketch titled "Wii Guys." The parody can be viewed at NBC.com.
- The Cloud Flower is a power-up coming up in Super Mario Galaxy 2. When Mario touches one, he becomes Cloud Mario who can create platforms from three small clouds following him.
- In Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, the Micro Bomb's psychopath thought is a reference to the 1994 film, Forrest Gump, in which the titular character's catchphrase is "Stupid is as stupid does".
