Super Mario Bros. & Friends: When I Grow Up

Template:Infobox Super Mario Bros. & Friends: When I Grow Up is a DOS computer game featuring Mario and friends released in 1991. It is an Electric Crayon game and was published by Merit Software. The game is essentially a coloring book on the computer. A few pages have animated sequences. The pages are themed after common careers. Characters in the game include Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, Toads, and Bowser. Super Mario Bros. & Friends: When I Grow Up features Bowser in both his video game form and his cartoon form. Link also makes cameo appearances on the Chef/Waiter and Travel guide pages.

Gameplay

The player cannot alter anything about the pages except for the colors. Pictures can be colored from a palette of sixteen colors. Clicking on the mix button will "mix" the current with the 15 other colors and give a total of 256 colors. Choosing a color and clicking on a picture will fill it with the selected color. The finished, or in progress, coloring was automatically saved to disk. The player can click the "oops" button to remove all colors applied previously and start coloring from the very beginning. Players can also select the name box for information on the occupation, as well as the picture. After the page is completed, the player can either print it or move on to the next page.

List of Career pages

• Chef/Waitress: Shows Mario as a chef and Peach as a waitress serving Link. When the animation function is chosen, Mario's pot of spaghetti flies onto Link's head, much to his and Peach's dismay.

• Attourney/Judge: Bowser sits at the stand while looking shocked. Peach, as a judge, looks over at him with a smirk and a gavel. Mario, while tugging his suit, objects to Bowser's testimony.

• Racecar Driver/Mechanic: While driving the Monster down a dirt road, Mario and Luigi get stopped by a Rocky Wrench

• Scientist: In a lab, Mario, adorned in a labcoat, holds up a beaker. A Goomba and a blue Virus escape from the resulting smoke as a Parabeetle watches.

• Travel guide: In what looks to be a desert area, Link hands out brochures while holding a shield that says "Link Travel Agency"

• Medical Doctor/Nurse: Dr Mario and Nurse Toadstool look upon a Bot's X-Ray's. When the animation button is clicked they become surprised due to the fact that the creature's bones disappear.

• Astronomer: Mario looks up at the starry, night sky through a telescope. He spies a Lakitu and a observatory.

• Carpenter: Mario is shown trying to build a house using a hammer and saw. He's failing miserably.

• Ballet Dancer: Peach, two Toads, and a Russian man are performing ballet on a stage.

• Disc Jockey: In a sound studio, Mouser pumps out phat beats from his turntable. In the other room, Mario listens on in disgust.

• Firefighter: Mario and Luigi, in fireman gear, use a hose to deal with a Fryguy. The animation is of said Fryguy being put out.

• Professional Athlete: Peach returns a volley with her racket, Mario charges toward the endzone (In uniform and with ball in tow) and Luigi tees off.

• Computer Programmer: Mario battles rabid printer paper and a swarm of Goombas that pop out of his monitor.

• Armed Forces Pilot: In a fighter jet, Mario participates in a dogfight against a Doomship

• Forest Ranger: Mario, in ranger gear, scolds a fire starting Fire Brother from his balcony

• Farmer: Farmer Mario stands proudly beside his crop of Mushrooms and Veggies. Toad stands happily in front of a cherry tree. The animation shows more crops growing.

• Marine Biologist: While in a Frog Suit, Mario swims past a Cheep-Cheep, a Jelectro, a Blooper and a Trouter

• Musical Composer/Musician: In a concert hall, the Koopalings perform for a attentive audience. Ludwig conducts, Roy plays the violin, Morton plays the trumpet and Iggy plays the drums.

• Plumber: With tools in hand, Mario and Luigi listen in as a cry for help is heard from a pipe.

• Fashion Designer: Peach imagines the canvas drawings of her designs for a gown and shoes.

• Zoo Keeper: In zoo keeper garb, Mario feeds Birdo an egg as a Pidgit and a Tryclyde watch intently. The animation shows Birdo eating the egg, roaring and then spitting another egg back out again.

• Construction Worker/Police: A Bot operates a Jack-Hammer. Mario meanwhile is directing traffic away from the construction site.

• Journalist: Peach interviews a tattered Mario who has just survived a plane crash. A camera man films it all.

• Teacher: Luigi teaches a class of a Moblin and a Daira basic math.

• Homemaker: Mario vacuums up Iggy while a Fire Chomp spits at him. The meal being made in the pot on the stove's top is burning.

• Barber/Postal Worker: Mail Carrier Peach delivers Barber Mario a letter. When the animation button is clicked, we can see that Mario is so distracted by the mail that he unknowingly shaves off the center of Luigi's hair.

• Buisness Executive: Bowser (sporting his cartoon appearance) complains to his subordinates, Mario and Luigi, about decreasing profit trends.

• Astronaut: With the help of a space suit/the space shuttle, Mario visits space. There he sees stars, Tatanga, and the random Russian dancer from the Ballet page.

• Pharmasist/Store Clerk: Mario (in business attire) holds up a sign that says "VITAMIN". Luigi looks on in glee while behind the counter labeled "PHARMACY"

• Vetrinarian: Dr. Luigi puts a stethoscope on Raccoon Mario's chest. A Ninji and a Tweeter watch happily.
