The P-Wing is an item found in Super Mario Bros. 3 that allows Mario or Luigi to fly in the air with their Raccoon forms for an unlimited amount of time. However, if the brothers are hit while flying, or receive a non-flying-based power-up within a level, they will lose the power of the P-Wing. Additionally, the effects of the P-Wing only last for one level (even the pipe levels). After that, the brothers are left with the basic Super Leaf abilities. The first P-Wing received in the game is located in Toad's secret shop, unlockable only by gathering most or all of coins in level 1-4 (at least 44 coins are required). The P-Wing can be combined with the Tanooki Suit.
