Punch (also known as the Plumber's Punch) is an attack that anyone can do in the Mario series, except characters with no hands, like Goombas.

The Punch move first appeared in Super Mario 64. The move has later been used in games like Mario Party, Wario World and even in Super Smash Bros. games.

In the Mario Party Series there are some minigames in where the character will punch another character. In Wario World Wario uses various punching moves to beat all his enemies. Mario, Luigi, and Wario use it to start an attack combo in Super Mario 64 DS. Also in the Super Smash Bros. games most characters have the Punch move.

Some characters have alternate animations for their punch, most noticeably Peach and Daisy, whom have an open-hand Slap instead. Yoshi had a Headbutt in the N64 Mario Party games, but it was changed to a Punch for the Gamecube and Wii installments. Birdo had a Slapping animation similar to Peach and Daisy in Mario Party 7, but it was changed to the same Punch animation as Yoshi's in Mario Party 8.
