Shady trees[1] are creatures appearing in all ghost-themed Minigames of Mario Party 6. They are black-colored ghost versions of trees who have two white eyes. They always appear in groups, alongside inanimates shady trees, forming forests. Some of them appear to be very tall, as their root crowns cannot be seen through the cyan-colored mist in which they almost always appear. Their most prominent roles are in the minigames "Trick or Tree" and "Something's Amist". In Trick or Tree, four of them appear in different sizes; after the minigame starts, they close their eyes, move, and shuffle around before stopping and opening their eyes again. After they stop, the player must choose a Shady Tree and climb it. The player who chooses the tallest Shady Tree wins. In Something's Amist, five Shady Trees appear. Once the minigame starts, the five Shady Trees turn to look at a hidden gemstone, which can only be found by observing their gaze. Shady Trees also make minor appearances in "Light Up My Night", "Boo'd Off the Stage", and "Boonanza!", where they serve as background elements forming a haunted forest.
