The 'Shroom:Issue XL/Entertainment
Hello, 'Shroom readers! This will be my first submission for The 'Shroom, so let's make it a good one! For this issue I will be writing about the fan-made series Super Mario Bros. Z, made by Alvin-Earthworm.
The plot of Super Mario Bros. Z is started by an evil robot named Mecha Sonic, who was looking for power. In Mecha Sonic's dimension, there are powerful gemstones known as Chaos Emeralds that grants whoever possesses all seven of them great power. After a skirmish between Sonic and Mecha Sonic, however, all of the Chaos Emeralds are scattered around the Mushroom World. Aonic and Shadow manage to get to the Mushroom World and almost instantly meet Mario and Luigi. Unfortunately, Mecha Sonic made his way the the Mushroom World as well, and even Bowser has his sights set on them. Mario, Luigi, Sonic, and Shadow must retrieve all of the Chaos Emeralds, but can they collect them all in time?
At first glance, this series seems like just another cliché Sonic and Mario crossover, but it's so much more than that. The plot itself is very complicated, but it greatly immerses the viewer. The creator, Alvin-Earthworm uses many special effects that make the battle scenes especially amazing. He makes sure that there is plenty comic relief, and he makes sure that he doesn't change the personality of the characters he's using. All in all, I think Super Mario Bros. Z is a must-see, but don't take my word for it, Alvin-Earthworm posts his videos on Newgrounds and YouTube.
