Play Nintendo puzzles

"NEC personal computers" specifically?

So, as we were want to do, we were trying to look through the home computer games, and noticed that the assorted titles (like Super Mario Bros. Special or Donkey Kong 3: Dai Gyakushū) for various Japanese home computers of the era, y'know, the PC-88, the Sharp X1, the works, are listed as "NEC personal computers". Which... Sure, all the games were released for, at the very least, a computer by NEC. But also, that is a... Woefully incomplete picture. The Sharp X1 was not by NEC, and yet it houses what are probably the most "famous" (well, famous by "obscure games for Japanese home computers" metrics.) versions of DK3DG and SMBS; you wouldn't know it from the navbox, though, because these are simply being listed as NEC titles.

So... Should this section be renamed, and if so, to what? "Japanese home computers" feels like a rather straightforward catch-all, even if it is definitely a bit ambiguous as to what that even means to someone not "in the know" about the Japanese computing scene. ~Camwoodstock ( talk ☯ contribs ) 00:33, April 22, 2025 (EDT)
