- I know that the page probably shouldn't be here if it's just an tangential tournament, but this is physical media, it involves official modified cartridges of two Mario games. Maybe the content can be cut down and be merged to the respective pages of Super Mario Bros 2 Lost Levels and Super Mario Kart, but I think the article isn't too off-topic from Mario.

This page is actually incorrect in much of the information given. The Nintendo Powerfest is a tour that Nintendo ran in 1990 and again in 1994 to show off the newest games and devices used on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, and then the Super Nintendo in 1994. The Nintendo World Championships was a tournament Nintendo hosted at the Powerfest, to encourage kids to come to the tour, so the parents would see what was coming.
The Nintendo World Championships II was simply the Nintendo World Championships hosted at the 1994 Nintendo Powerfest.
For sources, I was a finalist and still have all of my paperwork which shows the correct naming, and flyers and pamphlets I own from 90 and 94 confirm this as well.

The PowerFest was not a video game competition. It was a tour that hosted the 1994 Nintendo World Championships, or the Nintendo World Championships II. In 1990, they had a Nintendo Powerfest that took place at many locations across the country where they showcased new games, peripherals, and at this event, they hosted the Nintendo World Championships. In 1994 they had a Nintendo Powerfest that took place at many locations across the country where they showcased new games, peripherals, and at this event, they hosted the Nintendo World Championships II. The reason the name is often mistaken is because the logo on the splash screen shows "PowerFest 94" because this was the default screen at the event. Here's a picture of my display case which includes the plaque I received, and as you can see everything the competitors received says "Nintendo World Championships" on it, including the plaque which reads "1994 Nintendo World Championships Competitor" with the dates and my name, with the logo. I'm also including pictures of the legal documents we had to sign that shows there was no mention of the Powerfest, and only the Nintendo World Championships II. In addition, here's a flyer from 1990 that shows it wasn't any different in 1990, as this flyer is for the "1990 Powerfest" which featured the "Nintendo World Championships" Finally, a flyer from 1994 where I've marked that the Powerfest was where you could "check out hot new games" and they say there will be a competition, the Nintendo World Championships.
