Alleged Dutch localization[edit]
It had been claimed on this page that New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis is the first Super Mario game to be localized in Dutch, even before Super Mario 3D Land, based on the fact that the staff credits on the PAL version of the game give credits for "Dutch Translation". However, I've found a lot of information that disproves that a Dutch localization exists for this game.
Firstly, the European website for the game does not mention Dutch as a supported language and a news article from Nintendo NL proudly claims that "Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 feature on-screen text entirely in Dutch for the first time". Most importantly, the Dutch back cover of the game mentions that it "includes English on-screen text and a Dutch-language manual" next to a "5 languages in one" logo (none of which is Dutch). I even bought a PAL Nintendo Selects copy of New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis, and when you insert the game into a console set to Dutch, it launches in English, with no in-game language selection screen whatsoever.
Therefore, it seems pretty clear-cut that this game does not have a Dutch localization. Strangely, the credits section in the manual does mention "Dutch Translation", but it might simply refer to the translation of the boxart or the manual. Jdtendo(T|C) 18:44, September 30, 2026 (UTC)
