| :::Even though my statement was hypothetical, I'm trying to make a point: just because we don't have an official name and it didn't appear in multiple games doesn't mean the article should be merged. See, you confirmed my point. We shouldn't merge articles on two minor things. Besides, we can have short articles in the wiki. There's a difference between a short article and an impoverished stub. Just because it's short and seemingly insignificant doesn't mean it should merge. 23:48, 27 March 2013 (EDT) | | :::Even though my statement was hypothetical, I'm trying to make a point: just because we don't have an official name and it didn't appear in multiple games doesn't mean the article should be merged. | == Giant Shy Guy and Mega Guy ==

| Can someone check the Japanese guides to be certain that it has the same Japanese name? It seems more like the Mega Kantera case from a while ago. The ones from Super Mario Advances have no differences from the normal Shy Guy besides the size, while the ones from Yoshi's New Island have drastic differences and have a significant purpose. They seem to be intended to be a new enemy. Does anyone own a Super Mario Advance Japanese guide to check out wether it is Mega Heyho, or it has another name? -- 12:55, 25 February 2019 (EST)
| |
| :Also, the Super Mario Kun scan seems to say "Deka Heyho", rather than "Mega Heyho". While i agree that we don't split big enemies with different names, it seems to be more like the Mega Kantera rather than being the same enemy. -- 14:09, March 12, 2019 (EDT)
| |
| ::Furthermore, the new mechanics really seem to make the Mega Guy a new enemy. Do any Super Mario Advance Japanese guide say anything about them? If they are called "Mega Heyho" or something else. They really seem to be different enemies. -- 08:00, March 21, 2019 (EDT)

| :::It's fine. It's a generic permutation, and "big" enemies have changed their names many times, and not always to meet standards. Look at Big Boo for the (pardon) biggest example. Even if the YNI thing wasn't specifically a reference to the SMA enemy, it's still a generic permutation. | ::::This situation is probably much more closer to Ice Snifit than Big Boo if anything... -- 02:57, March 23, 2019 (EDT)
| |
| :::::Not really. Ice Snifits didn't look the same as each other. These do. Because it's a generic permutation. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 03:05, March 23, 2019 (EDT)

| Is it really appropriate to note it here? The lowercase big, implies that it's just a descriptor, not an actual part of the name. -- 12:46, December 14, 2020 (EST)

| :It's a larger than normal Shy Guy, so it belongs here. Although there is the issue that they're not actually large Shy Guys, but are larger in relation to a shrunken Yoshi and Baby Mario. Whether or not cases like that belong on the pages for size variants is another debate, though we currently do cover them on those pages. -- 12:51, December 14, 2020 (EST)

| ::It's Shrinker Pipe logic: the enemy is considered a different entity in relation to the current size of the player character. That said, if there's more evidence that Tiny Island and Huge Island are distinct places and it's not just Mario changing size like the Player's Guide claims, this precedent will fall apart and be worth reconsidering.
