Is Broggy part of Bowser's Minions?[edit]

The topic came up on the discord. As it is a) interesting and b) part of Super Mario Wiki's endless quest to classify every subject in the franchise, I'm bringing it here.

On July 17th, we talked about how we're citing the characters and species determined to be members of Bowser's Minions on the group's article. As an aside in the conversation, SpencerPK brought up that the system text for obtaining Broggy and unlocking Broggy Bonker in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey reads, "Broggy joined as a minion. Bowser can use Broggy Bonker in battle!". Just prior to that text, Bowser says, "Nice! He's gonna have to work, though! My minions don't slack!". In addition, Broggy Bonker is a Brawl Attack, a group of attacks otherwise entirely characterized by Bowser calling out a group of one species of Bowser's Minions for a combination attack. Do these factors demonstrate that Broggy becomes a member of Bowser's Minions or not?

I believe that this evidence does make Broggy a member of Bowser's Minions. As a general rule, we should trust system text. The only reasons for system text to be inaccurate are poor proofreading, poor translations, and for the sake of a joke. The text plainly isn't a joke, and as far as I'm aware Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey's story text is not riddled with errors. (Text relating to gear on the other hand...) The system text says "minion", clear as day. Further, having the Brawl Attacks cohesively be "call upon Bowser's Minions" makes a lot of sense, rather than having Broggy Bonker be the one attack that breaks the pattern. I guess it's fine to have an attack that's gained through a different method from the others, which Broggy Bonker is, be distinct lore-wise from the rest of the Brawl Attacks, but I think this can still be considered evidence in favor of Broggy being a member of Bowser's Minions.
