Afflictions[edit]

If his afflictions is with the Koopa Troop, then when the player chooses Bowser in Mario and Sonic at the olympic winter games Big Bullet Bill will be playing against his king. KS3 (talk)

Huh?[edit]

Why do we have this article? This is just a big-sized bullet bill (and nothing else) that only appeared in MASATOWG. This should go to the Bullet Bill article as happened with Giant Shy Guy and Giant Ninji. ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png

This is already covered in the Bullet Bill article, in fact:
Bullet Bill#Mario & Sonic series
This article provides a tiny bit more information, but I agree that the information here should rather be merged into the already existing section of the Bullet Bill article since it's really no more than a Bullet Bill that's a bit larger than normal and there's not all that much to say about it. It doesn't even appear alongside smaller Bullet Bills, so it may as well be no more than this game's version of a Bullet Bill; enemy sizes aren't always consistent. Just my personal opinion though, maybe other people think this should remain seperated (in which case the section in the Bullet Bill article should link here).--vellidragon 11:19, 21 March 2010 (EDT)

Just a speculation, but...[edit]

Maybe the Big Bullet Bill appeared in more games than the OWG. Ever seen Bullet Bills in Mario Kart DS and Wii? When you used it, you actually become a big, computer-controlled Bullet Bill. Should that be mentioned here? ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits)

NES remix[edit]

Didn't a large bullet bill appear in NES remix? or does that count if it's just an ingame sprite enlarged?

Restore this page to its original state (the proposal)[edit]

Restore this page to its original state 10-0

This complex story began long ago due to a misunderstanding and outdated information. I will divide it into five parts to understand how this conflict evolved. Without further ado, let us begin.

Chapter 1 - The Beginning

March 21, 2010: The page is created. It's about the character Big Bullet Bill from Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, who appears as a recurring rival and boss in the game.

November 18, 2011: The page creator changes the latest appearance to "Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games" (2011); however, they didn't add any information about this appearance. This decision is influenced by incorrect information that I will show later in the story.

Chapter 2 - The Change

December 19, 2018: Up until this time, the page had maintained a focus on Big Bullet Bill's appearance in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, ignoring his supposed appearance in Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (Wii). However, a user decided to add it, comparing it to how the Big Magikoopa page also contained similar information. The added information was from Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (Wii) (and Super Mario Maker, for some reason), under the argument that if Big Magikoopa could also have info about spinoffs, so can Big Bullet Bill, without considering that both cases are very different. Big Magikoopa continues to be called that in his subsequent appearances, while Big Bullet Bill is not. This belief that Big Bullet Bills appeared in more games stemmed from the fact that the Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (Wii) page claims that Big Bullet Bills appear in the game.

Chapter 3 - The Origin

I researched why people believe that Big Bullet Bill appears in Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (Wii), which led me to the Dream Long Jump minigame. In this minigame, large Bullet Bills appear as enemies; however, I couldn't find an official name that refers to them as Big Bullet Bills, nor do smaller Bullet Bills appear. They also have no apparent connection to the character from Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. So why does the Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (Wii) page claim this information without any official basis? For that, let's look at August 20, 2011. A year before the game came out, a user added information about Big Bullet Bills to the page, without anything to corroborate it. To be fair, if a Bullet Bill larger than normal appears in a trailer, that could be considered a reasonable interpretation. The problem is that when the game came out, and these were treated as normal Bullet Bills that happened to be large, no one fixed the information. It has remained that way until now. This same information was responsible for also making the user on November 18, 2011, change the latest appearance.

Chapter 4 - The Conflict and the Consensus?

March 9, 2020: A user who knows the character and knows that it does not reappear in Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (Wii) tries to fix the page by deleting that section. However, this started a small edit war with another user who disagreed with the decision. It all ended when a third user re-added the info with the following argument: "He's on the game's page, so unless that is proven false, this stays." As you can see, the argument for keeping the information on the page is based on another page containing outdated and unverified information.

Chapter 5 - The Present Day

At this point, the page itself was no longer about a character as it had been before, but rather, due to the way it was written, it was gradually transforming into a species. A user noticed this and on September 7, 2024, the user changed the page from character infobox to species infobox. They also rewrote the page as a species, adding Big Seeker Bullet Bill as a variant. This is the current situation: Big Bullet Bill is no longer a character from Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, but a large enemy like any other. And why? Why has all this changed? Was it due to official information from the games? Was it because they behaved similarly? Was it because he appeared with smaller Bullet Bills? No! It was due to outdated information that was never corrected, which over time became so normalized that no one ever questioned, "Is this really correct? Is this really what the game says?" I also think this problem might stem from the debate about whether a Mega Goomba is truly the same as a large Goomba. Although in this case, it's quite clear, since one is called Big Bullet Bill and the other doesn't even have a name.

This serves as an example of how, if incorrect information isn't corrected properly in time, it eventually becomes accepted as truth, and this happens in far more cases than one would imagine. This page was one of those affected. Because of this, the proposal seeks to revert the page to its original state, making it solely about the character called Big Bullet Bill, and moving the unofficial information to the Bullet Bill page.

Support[edit]

  1. Sorbetti (talk) Per history.
  2. TheCatLover738 (talk) Per proposal.
  3. Big Altendo (talk) Yeah, it's sad to see how changing small pieces of the story over time distorts the truth.
  4. Big Rykitu (talk) Per all.
  5. Camwoodstock (talk) Generic-ification strikes again. Considering the only actual substantial piece of prose on the page is for the Mario & Sonic character anyways, we don't see any harm in doing this. Per proposal.
  6. PopitTart (talk) If the Bill in 2012 Wii is never referred to as a "Big Bullet Bill" nor exist in contrast to normal-er sized Bills, then there's absolutely no reason to cover it here.
  7. EvieMaybe (talk) per all.
  8. Arend (talk) Classic case of treating big as Big despite a lack of any distinction. Like how the ginormous Chain Chomp in Yoshi's Story isn't called a Big Chain Chomp, or how all Mario Kart 7 enemies are giant-sized compared to Mario Kart Wii (most easily seen with the Goombas in Mushroom Gorge and Koopa Cape), yet are considered the same beings.
  9. The Big Master (talk) Per all.
  10. Wandering Poplin at a somewhat-bigger-than-normal size (talk) Per all. (But why does this situation feel so eerily familiar...?)
