Regretting his decision, he turned the letter over to [[Mario]], who delivered it. After Bobbery reads it, in which she tells him not to blame himself for her death and not to give up sailing, he becomes motivated to return to the sea and agrees to be the navigator for the S.S. Flavion.

The Old Letter is a letter written to Admiral Bobbery by Scarlette on her deathbed. She wrote it while Bobbery was at sea and she became ill.
